Spokane, WA October 26, 2022 - Community Risk Reduction Manager (CRRM) Jamie McIntyre has been awarded Washington State's Fire Educator of the Year!

During the ceremony, Jamie was recognized for her relentless pursuit of improving community safety. Throughout her career, she continuously reaches out to Spokane's diverse community groups and creates winning partnerships with vulnerable and at-risk populations. In addition, Jamie went beyond her fire safety training to assist the City of Spokane with the COVID response by leading public information strategies in the Joint Information Center to reach all areas of the City.

Jamie never settles; she constantly innovates and helps to lift the people and programs around her. She continually evaluates her programs to ensure they are consistent with the most current evidence-based science and principles. Jamie is always finding ways to ensure that fire and life safety messaging is inclusive and available, no matter the barrier. She has demonstrated a fantastic talent to overcome tremendous obstacles, whether a language, age, or a child with special needs.

Aside from her committee work on the State level and her recent appointment to a National Fire Protection Association board position, Jamie continues to bring professionalism and leadership into every role she serves.
