Suspect in Custody after Suspicious Fire in Residence

On Sunday July 30, 2023, at 1:04 pm, Spokane Fire responded to 3900 block of Nevada for a reported fire in a residence. SFD crews arrived just minutes after dispatch found a fire contained to one room in the structure. A quick interior search for victims was conducted while other firefighters deployed a hose line for fire attack. 

The fire was knocked down within a few minutes. All occupants safely evacuated. SFD crews were able to safely contain three animals.

SFD special investigation unit determined the fire to be suspicious in nature. A suspect was taken into custody by the Spokane Police Department.

Damage estimates were $50,000, with no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.
