On Monday, February 19, 2024, at 1:43 a.m., the Spokane Fire Department responded to a fire reported at Sparky’s Subs, located at 3003 East Mission Avenue. Multiple callers to 9-1-1 reported seeing smoke emanating from the business. The first unit arrived at the scene at 1:48 a.m. and observed moderate smoke issuing from the building. Upon arrival, firefighters from Engine 8 promptly deployed a hose to attack the fire, while Tower 2 personnel forced entry to ensure there were no people inside the building. The firefighters discovered the fire near the electrical panel and were able to extinguish it quickly.

The fire was contained to its origin area, but the rest of the building sustained heavy smoke damage. Although investigators could not pinpoint a specific cause of the fire, they determined that an electrical system failure was the likely trigger. Currently, no estimates are available for the extent of damage or loss.
