Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

New advancements in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) success rates have shown that the “Hands Only” technique significantly increases the survivability and quality of life outcome of patients experiencing life-threatening heart-related trauma. The CPR curriculum has been significantly modified for bystander CPR and now focuses on citizen “Hands-Only CPR”.

The Spokane Fire Department offers CPR demonstrations throughout the year at various City of Spokane events (such as the Bloomsday Trade Show) to reach out to as many people as possible. Each person we train increases the survivability of a community member suffering from cardiac arrest.

The SFD will no longer be instructing CPR in Fire Stations; all cardiac resuscitation efforts are focused on saturating the community with the Hands-Only CPR Curriculum and our Public Automated External Defibrillator (AED) program. The following are a few Spokane Community Partners which currently teach CPR and First Aid Courses to the public and businesses:
