The most important step in opening a successful business is developing a clear plan. It pays to consider the many aspects of business ownership and operation of a food-based business before committing to the project. Incomplete planning is a leading cause of new business failure. A thorough business plan will help make your business concept a reality.

There are a number of local resources that offer helpful information about starting or expanding your business. A few resources are mentioned below.

  • The Small Business Guide provides helpful information, links to valuable resources, and outlines the steps for starting and operating a business in Washington State. The Small Business Guide is available in English, Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese.
