Once you have chosen a location, but before you sign a lease or purchase a building, we strongly encourage you to schedule a Pre-Development meeting with our Development Services Center.
Pre-Development meetings are free and an opportunity for you to share your project with the various departments that would review your building permit. You can schedule a Pre-Development meeting by emailing predev@spokanecity.org. Our application can be found online. To schedule a meeting, you'll need a completed application and a proposed site plan. If you have proposed interior floor plans, they can be helpful to the conversation, but they are not required for the meeting. The plans do not need to be professionally prepared in order to schedule a meeting.
After you receive feedback from the City on your proposal, your next step will be to apply for a building permit. Your Pre-Development notes will tell you what kind of building permit application you will need. Even if your project does not require an architect to design the plans, we recommend a design professional to help you prepare your plans for permit submittal.
