The City of Spokane's Community, Housing and Human Services Department (CHHS) is seeking proposals from organizations providing services benefiting extremely-low-to-moderate income residents for approximately $8.2 million in grants.
Funding is available through the Coordinated Grant Program, which provides a single point of entry for Community Development Block Grant, McKinney Vento Homeless Grant, Consolidated Homeless Housing Grant, City of Spokane Homeless Initiatives, City of Spokane Human Services Grant and Community Center Capacity Building program applications. Applications are due by Oct. 11.
“When Mayor Condon consolidated parallel programs into one Community, Housing and Human Services Department and Board, his goal was to ensure that our federal, state and local grant funds serving extremely-to-moderate income citizens are invested as effectively as possible,” said CHHS Director, Jerrie Allard. “This coordinated grant process is a major step in meeting that goal.”
Applications and information, including a schedule for technical assistance sessions, is available at www.spokanechhs.org or by calling the CHHS Department at 625-6325.
The CHHS Board will hold a public hearing to discuss the 2014 Program Year on Sep. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northeast Community Center, 4001 N. Cook St., Lower Level. The discussion will cover the CHHS Board's vision and mission statements, funding priorities and principles and offer other information to aid applicants with the new Coordinated Grant Program.
