Spokane attorney Laura McAloon, a public finance and municipal law specialist who has assisted the city on financial, tax and land use matters and is a citizen member of the committee overseeing the Seabold Group’s investigation into the handling of City personnel matters, will be the next City Attorney.
McAloon joins the City after 16 years in private practice, having worked extensively with the City of Pullman, STA and other municipal and government clients. She will replace Nancy Isserlis, who served as City Attorney for four years.
“Laura has great perspective, takes a very practical approach to her work and will be a great leader for the City Attorney’s Office,” Spokane Mayor David Condon said. “She is the right person to help the office take the next step.”
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve this great City in a new way,” McAloon said. “I look forward to working with the Mayor and Council to achieve their goals for the City.”
McAloon joins the City from the firm of Workland & Witherspoon PLLC, where her clients included numerous municipalities and other governmental organizations around the state. She graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2000, and serves on the Spokane C.O.P.S., Northeast Public Development Authority, YWCA Spokane and The Ministry Institute at Gonzaga University boards of directors.
McAloon is expected to begin at the City on August 31 upon confirmation of the City Council.
