Spokane City Council adopted a list of funding priorities to help guide conversations with the Mayor in the creation of the 2018 City operations and capital budgets.

“This year, we prioritized investments that align with the City’s draft strategic plan, which focuses on three areas: Safe, Healthy and Compassionate City, developing our Urban Advantage, and creating Sustainable Public Infrastructure,” said Council Member Amber Waldref. “We look forward to working with citizens, businesses and City staff to gain feedback on our draft strategic plan and to help us invest our public dollars wisely.”

Highlights of the Council’s priorities include: hiring additional police and public safety personnel; ensuring 24/7 homeless shelter funding with community partners; developing revitalization plans to spur private development in key business centers and corridors; and increasing funds for improved snow removal and pothole repair.

The Council’s full list of priorities, adopted on May 22, 2017, and the accompanying Council resolution are available online. The draft City of Spokane Strategic Plan will be going out for input and public comment later in June.
