Spokane – Join the Spokane City/County Historic Preservation Office and the Spokane Historic Landmarks Commission at a presentation to the public on our Mid-Century Spokane Survey & Inventory project. In 2016, the Spokane City/County Historic Preservation Office and Spokane Historic Landmarks Commission received a grant from the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation for the identification, documentation, and better knowledge of the Modern movement in Spokane. The goal of the project was to examine the architecture of Spokane from the middle of the 20th century; to understand why we attracted so many revolutionary architects and to learn about some of their best projects; and to help you gain an awareness of – and an appreciation for – this new area of historic preservation. Our consultants – helveticka and Painter Preservation – will share information on the survey itself including examples of the different types and styles highlighted; the architects who left their mark on Spokane; mid-century materials; recommendations for the future and more! If you've been following along on our journey of a "Mid-Century a Week" – please join us for this informative look at Spokane's Modern architectural legacy!
