A new economic development area on the West Plains, formed to attract new manufacturing and aerospace development that will grow jobs in the area, is seeking applicants for two open board positions.

The organization, known as a Public Development Authority, is looking for people with experience in real estate, advanced manufacturing, logistics, business development, or industrial park operation. The West Plains PDA is a partnership between the City of Spokane, Spokane County and Spokane International Airport. It includes the geographic areas of the airport plus some bordering property west, south and east of the airport.

To be considered for the board seats, applications must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 13 at 5 pm. Applications are available and can be submitted online. A paper copy is also available by contacting Boris Borisov at 625.6156 or by email bborisov@spokanecity.org, and can be mailed to 9000 W. Airport Drive, Suite 204, Spokane, WA 99224. Terms for the positions are three years beginning January 1. The West Plains PDA board plans to begin reviewing applications at its Oct. 19 meeting and will notify the elected directors once a decision has been reached.

The PDA designation aligns resources and services to support targeted investments consistent with advancing the airport layout plan and furthering aerospace supply chain and other industrial development. Both have been identified as areas for potential economic growth on the West Plains.
