The City of Spokane is planning a donation drive in correlation to the annual Point-In-Time (PIT) Count. The Everybody Counts Campaign has its annual point in time count in January. Needed items will be collected during December and January.

“The Point-In-Time count is essential to our ability to appropriately respond to the crisis of homelessness. The PIT is one of the many ways we assess need in our community, and the federally required method of identifying the community need,” said Dawn Kinder, Community Housing and Human Services Director. “By engaging the community in the PIT we create broader community awareness and education of this complex problem, and create a community response to support our neighbors in need.”

The Everybody Counts donation drive will be from Friday, December 1 to Thursday, January 18. Collection locations include;

  • EWU Riverpoint
  • SFCC/SCC
  • Whitworth
  • Police Station (north, downtown and south hill locations)

“Our goal, is for homelessness to be rare, brief, and non-recurring, to design interventions and solutions which lead to that goal requires a strong understanding of who in our community is experiencing homelessness,” said Mayor David Condon. “By donating to the cause you are telling those in crisis that their community cares about them, that everybody counts."
