On 01-21-18 a little after 11 p.m., 911 received multiple calls of gunfire in the 4200 block of E Longfellow Ave. Almost simultaneously, a person was reported to be shot in the 3100 block of E Francis Ave.

Officers responded to both locations. In the 3100 block of E Francis, a male subject suffering from at least one gunshot wound was located. Officers immediately rendered first aid until care was handed over to Spokane Fire and AMR ambulance crews. The injured subject was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.

At the 4200 block of E Longfellow officers found evidence indicating that the shooting had taken place there. Multiple individuals were detained, including the suspected shooter. Initial information obtained from investigators is that the incident was precipitated by a narcotics transaction.

There is currently no one outstanding. This does not appear to be a random act, and there is no continued threat to the public. The 4200 of E Longfellow will be closed for several hours as Major Crimes Unit detectives continue to investigate.
