Today March 26th just after 4:20 p.m., Spokane Police responded to the report of a robbery in the area of the 1400 block of N. Lincoln St. The victim reported the black male suspects had robbed him at gunpoint and drove away from the area. The victim provided the suspect vehicle description along with the temporary license plate number. Shortly after the call, Spokane Police Officers located the suspect vehicle. A high risk stop was conducted on the suspect vehicle near N. Division St., on E. Longfellow Ave. During the initial stop, the driver of the vehicle exited, and the passenger drove the suspect vehicle away, eastbound, at a high rate of speed. Spokane Police pursued the suspect vehicle for several blocks until the pursuit was terminated for public safety from excess speeds. The suspect vehicle continued to drive at a high rate of speed and crashed on N. Nevada St. at E. Longfellow Ave. The driver of the victim vehicle was not injured during the crash. The driver and passenger from the suspect vehicle then fled the scene of the crash on foot. One suspect was located running from the area of the crash. A perimeter was set up in the area, and following a K9 track, the third suspect was located hiding behind a residence on E. Longfellow Ave. The third suspect was armed with a pistol at the time of his arrest.
20 year old Christian C. Scott was booked into the Spokane County Jail for 1st Degree Robbery and Felony Eluding. 20 year old Peighton C. Jones was booked into the Spokane County Jail for 1st Degree Robbery. 19 year old Kylan A. Childress was also booked into the Spokane County Jail for 1st Degree Robbery.
This incident highlights the unpredictable nature of law enforcement contact with suspects. Spokane Police always take public safety into account when actively pursuing suspects, and no one was injured in today’s incident. Thanks to the quick response by the Spokane Police Department, and the deployment of resources such as K9’s units and SWAT units, the armed suspect was taken into custody without additional harm to the surrounding community.
