A public open house to provide feedback on certain design options for Riverside Avenue in downtown Spokane has been set for Thursday, June 14, at the Downtown Library’s Conference Room 1A from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
At the event, citizens can learn about the optional ways that bicycle lanes, parking, and the Spokane Transit Authority Central City Line stations could work together on Riverside Avenue. There will also be discussion around applying different treatments in a “focus zone” portion of the project. Citizens will be asked to provide information on how they use Riverside today, how they would like to use it in the future, and their preferences about how the design elements will come together.
Riverside Avenue between Monroe Street and Division Street will be rebuilt over the next few years, beginning as early as 2019. Earlier feedback on the project determined that the street should include three travel lanes, the addition of bike lanes, curbside parking, and curbside transit stops.
An online survey to gather feedback on the options will be available through the end of June. A link will be provided on the city website after the public open house. This feedback will be incorporated into the final design scope. Design of the project will then take place through the winter with the initial phase of construction starting as soon as spring of 2019.
