The Federal Reserve Board of San Francisco is holding the Listening Session in the Spokane area on Wednesday, July 11 at 10am. This listening session is in response to multiple inquiries requesting more information regarding Opportunity Zones. Registration for this event is open now.

Spokane County has 11 census tracts (all 11 touch the City of Spokane) designated as Qualified Opportunity Zones. The Treasury and the IRS are in the process of developing rules for this program, including who can create and run Qualified Opportunity Funds and how they

The purpose of this Listening Session is to share the most current information on the Zones and Funds and to hear from local business, government, Tribal and community leaders like you about potential investments and to identify needs within the community. Your feedback at this meeting will also help the Washington State Department of Commerce as it plans a statewide Opportunity Zone convening this September in Seattle.

“This is a great opportunity for continuing the on-going work already invested within the City,” said Mayor, David Condon. “These opportunity zones will add value to job creation, livable wages, and housing resources that will affirm our City’s ability to be a competitive contender for business expansion and growth.”
