The North Monroe Corridor Project included reconfiguration of the street to two travel lanes with a center turn lane, down from four tight travel lanes and a narrow center lane. The project ran from just north of Indiana to Kiernan, near the top of the Monroe Street hill. The work included new pavement, new sidewalks and curbs, pedestrian lighting, enhanced pedestrian crossings, stormwater improvements, and transit improvements including High Performance Transit Stations, passenger amenities, and a combination of in-lane stops and transit pullouts. Monroe Street reopened over a month early on Thursday, September 6.
