Planning for the North Bank has begun! Last month, our consultants Community Attributes, Inc. (CAI) and MAKERS Architecture and Urban Design visited the area. The consultants, along with key staff from the City and Spokane Transit Authority, went on an extensive site tour of the North Bank to learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing the area.
A community workshop will be held:
WHEN: March 6, 2019
WHERE: Spokane Public Library Downtown Branch in Meeting Room 1A
TIME: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
There will also be time to drop in and visit with the project team from 1-4 p.m. on the same day.
Gathering opinions of developers, neighborhoods, and residents is part of the on-going planning process. Items being discussed include such issues as transportation, urban design, and outdated regulations. Also discussed is visioning for the area and different strategies to guide new development while preserving Spokane River bank views.
An important theme recognized is identifying the North Bank as part of Downtown and supporting that connectivity throughout the North Bank and into Downtown is key.
A vision survey has been created that will help guide the North Bank planning process.
