In the interest of public health, Spokane City Council President Breean Beggs has cancelled the Monday, March 16, 6 p.m., City Council Legislative Session. Instead, the Council will receive a report from the Mayor, City staff, and leaders from community organizations on the community’s response to the COVID-19 virus. The report will be shown live on CityCable 5 and streamed on the web at www.spokanecity.org.
No public testimony – including public forum – will be taken and no legislative items will be considered. Attendance will be limited to 50 people, including staff. The public is encouraged to tune in from home.
“The COVID-19 situation in Spokane is changing quickly. After the Governor’s announcement that events with more than 50 people in attendance should be cancelled, we have decided to cancel the Council Legislative Session for tonight to ensure that we can keep the public safe,” Beggs said. “I look forward to hearing from Mayor Woodward, Dr. Lutz and others with an update on the virus’s effects locally and their plans moving forward.”
