A large group gathered downtown has become aggressive toward motorists and others downtown. Police are working to contain the group and remove them from the area.

In order to disperse people from downtown, Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward has enacted a curfew beginning at 8:15 pm until 5 am Tuesday. The order is in effect from Division to Maple Street and Fifth Avenue to Boone Street.

Everyone is ordered to leave downtown immediately.

A curfew can be enacted when there is a civil emergency or imminent threat, which either causes or threatens to result in death, emergency, or the destruction of or damage to property, such that, in the opinion of the mayor, extraordinary or immediate measures to protect public’s safety and welfare and peace need to be taken.
