Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward is releasing the following statement following the City Council’s adoption of the 2021 City Budget in a 6-1 vote tonight:

“Together with the City Council Budget Committee, I worked to create a collaborative process to develop the best possible City budget for our community for the coming year. Today, the City Council adopted the 2021 Budget, and I am proud of the results. Throughout the process, I have prioritized public safety, housing, homelessness and economic development, while effectively managing the financial impacts resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. This budget will achieve those goals and more. In addition to the Council Members, I want to thank our budget staff for their hard work and flexibility in reaching a great outcome.”
