Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward has ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff through Monday, May 30, to coincide with President Joseph R. Biden’s directive that state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered immediately to honor victims of the tragedy in San Jose, California.
“Spokane joins the country in mourning the eight people who lost their lives on Wednesday,” said Woodward. “We encourage anyone with a flag outside of their home or business to join us in honoring these victims.”
Flags will also be lowered on Monday, May 31, in observance of Memorial Day. This federal holiday commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service.
