Water quality test results conducted overnight have met standards and confirm safe conditions for customers in north Spokane. City of Spokane Water Department technicians discovered a failed valve at Well Pump #4 resulting in air entering the system, causing water to have a cloudy or milky appearance. Customers north of North Foothills Dr. to Francis Ave. and Havana St. west to Assembly may have experienced a cloudy or milky look to their water. The condition of the water is not a result of contamination. The affected pump was taken out of operation and crews flushed the system in the north hill water system until late Friday night to help remove the air.
Water quality is one of the highest priorities for the City of Spokane. Each year, more than 2,000 tests are performed on Spokane's water for 80 contaminants.
