The City of Spokane completed work this morning, Dec. 14 on the Full-City Plow initiated on Saturday, Dec. 10. Snow accumulations from the back-to-back storms combined with material frozen to the street from the Nov. 30 storms created challenges for plow operators. Snow crews took longer than normal to widen streets and make room for snow likely to fall in the future. The three-day Full-City Plow goal is dependent on conditions and is not always able to be attained.
“The weight of the snow combined with limited locations to push it significantly slows down the equipment and response,” says Street Director Clint Harris. “The satellite material stations really paid off with this weather event.”
Snow crews are out cleaning up areas that need additional work. Residents who note that their block was missed by plows can call 3-1-1 to report the miss.
The Street Department remains in winter operations, working seven days a week monitoring weather and street conditions. Snow crews and maintenance technicians continue to keep equipment and materials ready to respond for forecasted cold temperatures and possible snow this week.
