Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff to coincide with President Joesph R. Biden’s directive that state and U.S. flags at all state buildings be lowered for Peace Officers Memorial Day.

“President John F. Kennedy declared the first Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15, 1962,” said Mayor Lisa Brown. “Today we remember and honor peace officers everywhere who lost their lives or became disabled in the line of duty.”

Flags will remain lowered until sundown. Mayor Brown encourages anyone with a flag outside of their home or business to join us in this recognition.
