High Traffic Impacts Coming Week of June 10

As construction season continues, there are high-impact traffic areas for drivers to navigate. Areas include the South Hill and Latah Valley. Motorists are urged to plan ahead, allow for extra time, and look for detour changes. Please slow down for everyone’s safety and make the extra effort to support businesses impacted by the necessary projects. Current obstruction information impacting drivers in the City is available on the City’s construction webpage.

Cheney-Spokane Rd. closed at S. 4300 block to Cedar Rd. June 11-October

As part of the Marshall Rd. Water Transmission Main project, Cheney-Spokane Rd. will be fully closed beginning Tuesday, June 11. The closure is required to support water capacity improvements in the area. Information and traffic maps can be found on the project page.

What to Expect:

  • Cheney-Spokane Rd. closure begins just south of the retail area at US 195 and continues to Cedar Rd. Impacted neighborhoods include Eagle Ridge and Qualchan area.
  • Businesses are OPEN and ACCESSIBLE from the Cheney-Spokane Rd. interchange.
  • SPEED REDUCTIONS will be signed on US 195 between Hatch Rd. and Qualchan Dr.
  • Flaggers will be in place for traffic control Monday-Friday between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. at US 195 and Meadow Lane Rd. intersection. See map.
  • Traffic fines are double in work zones.

Alternate Routes:

  • W. Qualchan Dr. to S. Meadow Lane Rd. – 3.5 miles. See map.
  • Eagle Ridge to I-90 – 14.5 miles. See map.

South Hill - 29th Ave. Paving between Ray St. and Ivory St. – Regal St. temporarily closed

As grind and overlay work continues and paving will begin Monday, morning June 10. In order to facilitate this work, a section of Regal St. will need to be temporarily closed.

What to Expect:

  • Significant slow-downs and congestion between Ray. St. and Ivory St.
  • Regal St. will be closed between 29th Ave. and 34th Ave.

Alternate Route:

  • Drivers are encouraged to use Rockwood Blvd, Southeast Blvd., 37th Ave. and 57th Ave. east and west when possible.
  • Drivers are encouraged to use Southeast Blvd., Grand Blvd. and Ray St. north and south when possible.
