I-90 Westbound Exit 283B At Thor-Freya Opens, Eastbound Exit Closes Friday Morning

Crews are rebuilding the intersections at the Thor-Freya and I-90 interchange as part of Phase 2 of the Thor-Freya corridor project. The westbound I-90 Exit 283B will open and eastbound I-90 Exit 283B is will close at 6 a.m. Friday, June 21 for work on the intersections at Thor St. and 3rd Ave. and Freya St. and 3rd Ave. in east central Spokane. Improvements include rebuilding the intersections with concrete, replacing curb and stormwater facilities, ADA upgrades, and water and sewer replacements. This follows similar work on westbound 2nd Ave. at Thor and Freya streets.

What to Expect:

  • Westbound I-90 Exit 283B Thor/Freya off-ramp will open Friday morning, June 21
  • Eastbound I-90 Exit 283B will close starting at 6 a.m., Friday, June 21
  • Eastbound drivers have three rerouting options. Use Exit 283A at Altamont St., Exit 285 at Sprague, or Exit 286 at Broadway Ave.
  • Eastbound 3rd Ave. will be closed between Ray St. and Thor St. starting at 6 a.m.
  • Thor St. will be reduced to one lane at 3rd Ave.
  • Northbound lanes on Freya St. will be open
  • Detours are expected to be in place for approximately 10 weeks or until September.
  • Traffic fines are double in work zones.
