Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered flags at all City facilities be lowered to half-staff to coincide with Governor Jay Inslee’s directive that state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered today, Tuesday, July 30, in remembrance of former Representative Georgette Valle.

“Representative Valle served 12 terms as a Washington State Representative,” Mayor Brown said. “I encourage anyone with a flag outside of their home or business to join us in this recognition to honor her memory.”

Representative Valle passed away on July 10, 2024, just four months shy of 100. A memorial service will occur on Tuesday, July 30, at 4 p.m. at Normandy Park United Church of Christ.
