The City of Spokane will have several closures related to the holidays. Spokane City Hall will be closed at noon on Tuesdays, Dec. 24 and 31, and all day on Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
Solid Waste Services will be a day late following the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. Residents with regular Friday service those weeks will have service on Saturday. Residents who miss garbage day can report their missed solid waste collection online. The Waste-to-Energy facility will be closed on Wednesdays, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1 but open all other days from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year, Christmas tree pickup will be Dec. 30 – Jan. 10.
City customers with clean green food and yard waste service now have pick-up the first full weeks of January, February, and December. Green carts will be collected January 6 – 10 on your regularly scheduled garbage day; please have your carts to the curb by 6 a.m.
The Spokane City Council is not scheduled to meet on Mondays, Dec. 23 and 30. Council meetings will resume on Monday, Jan. 6, with a 3:30 p.m. briefing session and 6 p.m. legislative session. Meetings are shown live on CityCable 5, the City’s government-access cable station, and are streamed on Facebook and the City's website. Citizens who want to provide testimony on an item on the Council’s agenda can sign up online.
On-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payment on Wednesdays, Dec. 25, and Jan. 1. However, please remember, even when parking is free on holidays, all parking rules, including time limits, still apply. The Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services will be closed on Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan 1.
Spokane 311 employees will be available by phone and online for customer service inquiries on Tuesdays, Dec. 24 and 31. Spokane 311 will not be available on Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. The public can access Spokane311.org 24 hours a day, and messages will be responded to the next business day.
The Development Service Center will be available by phone on Tuesdays, Dec. 24 and 31. They will not be available on Wednesdays, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
All Spokane Public Library branches will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday, and on Wednesday, Jan. 1, for the New Year’s Day holiday.
