Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. In observance of Juneteenth on Thursday, June 19, Spokane City Hall will be closed.
Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services, all Spokane Public Library branches, and the Development Services Center will be closed on Juneteenth.
On-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payments on Juneteenth, but remember even when parking is free on holidays, all parking rules, including time limits, still apply.
Other services will proceed on normal schedules. Garbage, recycling, and food & yard waste services will proceed as usual. The Waste-to-Energy facility and Spokane County’s transfer stations will be open.
Spokane City Council is scheduled to meet on Monday, June 23, with a 3:30 p.m. agenda review and a 6 p.m. legislative meeting. Meetings are shown live on CityCable 5, the City’s government-access cable station, and are streamed on Facebook and the web at spokanecity.org.
Spokane 311 employees will be available for phone or online customer service inquiries on Thursday, June 19.
Riverfront Park attractions including the Looff Carrousel, the Numerica SkyRide, and the Numerica Skate Ribbon will be open on Juneteenth. Details are available online. City golf courses will have normal operations and splash pads will be open.
