The Spokane Regional Continuum of Care’s (CoC) annual snapshot estimate of the local unhoused population is set for January 27 through February 2, 2026.

The Point-In-Time (PIT) Count is a nationwide event with a mission to identify and better serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Information collected during the local PIT count is sent to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Washington State Department of Commerce, giving them a snapshot of people experiencing both sheltered and unsheltered homelessness throughout Spokane County.

"The Point-In-Time Count is an important part of our housing and homelessness work in Spokane. While not a comprehensive report, it provides critical information that informs policy at various levels and helps us secure funding for needed resources,” Mayor Lisa Brown said.

While the count is administered by the City of Spokane, it is conducted by volunteers who survey people experiencing homelessness in Spokane, the City of Spokane Valley, and throughout Spokane County.

The CoC is now seeking volunteers and those interested can sign up here. Volunteers are required to attend a training session.
