Spokane Mayor David Condon issued the following statement about the City Council’s override of the TBD Ordinance:

“Spokane’s approach to transit has long been, and must remain, a regional effort, which the City Council voted to support in January. Tonight’s Council vote unnecessarily departs from this regional approach. The STA Board voted to place a regional transit funding package on the November 2016 ballot, alleviating the Council’s concerns about the City needing to push forward transit projects on its own. Therefore, the TBD ordinance is no longer necessary.”
