Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland, Liberty Lake Mayor Steve Peterson and Jimmy Ramirez, you are now on the clock.
I accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS today with the Gonzaga Prep football team.
Numerous people in Spokane challenged me. I'm honored to have accepted their challenges on the Gonzaga Prep football field where Steve Gleason got his start. It was a great way to conclude the first practice of the season for the Gonzaga Prep football team.
Gleason Fest, which raises money for Team Gleason and Steve's work to find a cure for ALS, is coming to Spokane this weekend. Thank you, Spokane, for your support of this great cause.
You can check out GleasonFest.org to learn more and get involved.
In accepting the challenge, I also issued my own challenges to Mayors Strickland and Peterson, and Jimmy Ramirez, who is one the big backers of Gleason Fest.
So, in the words of Gonzaga Prep Head Coach Dave McKenna, who today also challenged every Greater Spokane League high school coach and his team: “You have 24 hours to answer that call.”
