Let the Fiesta begin!

Summer may be winding down, but the party will continue in Spokane with Fiesta Spokane, a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month this September.

Spokane is a community with a growing multicultural population. Members of our community speak 55 different languages, according to the most recent census.

Fiesta Spokane honors and celebrates many of the heritages represented in Spokane and that touch our community. The Fiesta kicks off Sept. 2 in the Chase Gallery at City Hall and will run throughout the month of September.

Events include:

  • A film series honoring Hispanic and Latino contributions, history, culture and experiences
  • The black-tie Encanto Gala Dinner & Auction scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, September 13 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center
  • The Fiesta Spokane Festival on September 20 from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. in the Gondola Meadow at Riverfront Park

As part of Fiesta celebrations, the City of Spokane will also be announcing a new sister city in Mexico, San Luis Potosi, which will become Spokane's fourth current Sister City relationship.

But the party won't stop after September. The month-long Fiesta festivities are the first in a series of multicultural celebrations presented by the City of Spokane. Others will honor Native Americans, African Americans and Asian Americans.
