If you have the chance, head up to High Drive and drive, walk, or bike the recently completed section. The new High Drive definitely has an exciting look and feel! Early on, the project received a lot of attention and public input, and it shows. But improvements to High Drive aren't finished yet.
Phase II of the High Drive project is set to begin in the spring of 2015. The work will extend from Manito Boulevard to Hatch Road. (Phase I construction ran from 29th Avenue to Bernard Street). Improvements include:
Once work on Phase II is finished, the entire project - including Phase I which wrapped up this fall – will bring lots of benefits to the area. From making the area safer and more pedestrian friendly and completing a gap in the bicycle network to reducing combined sewer overflow, the High Drive project is a great example of City street projects that go much deeper than the pavement.
