The City of Spokane and Spokane Transit Authority (STA) welcome input and conversation from residents of Browne's Addition and nearby areas along the future Central City Line bus rapid transit (BRT) route. Participants will be encouraged to provide questions and feedback on the route's alignment, station locations and design. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about the economic benefits associated with the project. A public workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1st from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Southwest Community Center (310 S. Spruce Street).
As part of the ongoing planning process for the Central City Line, the City of Spokane and STA are developing a Strategic Overlay Plan to identify economic development opportunities associated with BRT and land use policy changes that would accommodate these opportunities. The process will give stakeholders and the public an opportunity to share their priorities and weigh in on these options. The plan will include recommendations for STA and City of Spokane actions to support project implementation and help increase the project's competitiveness for federal funding.
The Strategic Overlay Plan process began in the summer of 2015, and is expected to be completed by summer 2016. The plan will include a review of existing plans and policies in the corridor, and will include land use and policy recommendations for economic development, affordable housing, and parking.
