Children and families lined up around the block to help open the new Mobius Science Center, the next in a collection of assets connecting people to the Spokane River.

Hundreds lined up to explore the new center for learning and discovery adjacent to one of Avista’s power generation facilities, establishing a perfect intersection of real-world scientific application and discovery. Mobius visitors interact with a world-class human exhibit, delve into power generation, and gain a better understanding of the ecosystem in the river as it flows by.

Mobius joins Huntington Park and the Gathering Place as renewed community assets that are creating greater connectivity to the river.

And, we’re not done yet.

Next Friday, just across the street, Riverfront Park will host a party in the park to kick off construction on the first major enhancement to the park in more than 40 years. Appropriately, a lot of science has already gone into the planning of that work and much more will be used as crews build a new ice ribbon, improve the carrousel, rebuild two bridges, and create new places for people to enjoy.
