Spokane’s National Night Out Against Crime was Tuesday, August 2nd. Night Out Against Crime is a national event focused on crime prevention. The celebrations throughout Spokane were focused on crime prevention awareness, increased neighborhood support in anti-crime efforts, and uniting our communities.
In an effort to continue crime prevention efforts throughout Spokane we have created the #SpokaneStrong Neighborhood Safety Outreach Campaign in partnership with Spokane C.O.P.S. The goal of the #SpokaneStrong Neighborhood Safety Outreach Campaign is to establish a neighborhood safety prevention mindset. We are seeking volunteers to go door-to-door getting to know their neighbors and distribute information on safety tips, important neighborhood resource information, and ways to get involved in neighborhood safety efforts. The City has been divided into grids that volunteers can sign up for on Volunteer Spokane.
Even if you cannot volunteer keep your eyes open for volunteers from your neighborhood that will be passing out door hangers and brochures about #SpokaneStrong Neighborhood Safety Outreach Campaign. The materials feature tips from both the Spokane Police Department and Spokane Fire Department on how to improve neighborhood and home safety.
