Destruction at the Ready!

Updated June 3, 2019

The City’s Waste to Energy facility stands ready to be your new business partner.

With growing needs around security and protecting information, more and more businesses have to ensure that sensitive documents and related materials are managed safely and securely. Did you know that WTE can provide that solution?

The WTE accepts materials that need special handling. (We can accept all materials, except those designated as hazardous by federal or state regulations.)

The services offered include:

  • Certificate of Destruction.
  • After hours’ waste acceptance.
  • Specialized off-loading and processing.
  • Exceptional customer service.
  • Competitive disposal rates.

The WTE solution is environmentally friendly.

WTE burns waste and makes electricity. The facility can handle up to 800 tons of municipal solid waste a day and can generate 22 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 13,000 homes.

WTE releases less carbon than landfilling waste. Over the life-cycle of the waste, the EPA has estimated that a minimum of one ton of CO2 equivalents are avoided for every ton of municipal solid waste directed to WTE rather than transported to a landfill.

WTE is part of a comprehensive system.

Spokane's WTE facility is part of our community's overall comprehensive solid waste management system that encourages recycling and waste reduction—along with the recovery of energy. That means we can help businesses with other disposal needs, in addition to secure destruction.
