The City of Spokane's Waste to Energy Facility (WTEF) provides customers with waste management solutions. We accept many types of waste that needs special handling for secure disposal. Services offered include:

• Secure destruction, ensuring confidential and proprietary information is incinerated
• Certificate of Destruction when needed
• Waste volume reduction by 90% – weight by 75%
• Recovering energy from your waste
• Environmentally preferred method of disposal over landfill
• Recycling credit depending on material's point of origin

The WTEF is part of Spokane's overall comprehensive solid waste system that encourages recycling and waste reduction—along with the recovery of energy. The facility burns municipal solid waste to recover energy in the form of electricity. The facility can handle up to 800 tons of municipal solid waste a day and can generate 22 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 13,000 homes.
