“Erase the Waste!” Local students educate our community on ways to reduce waste in their lives through practicing the Three R’s of reducing, reusing and recycling.
Students from more than 15 Spokane County schools entered the recent Spokane Recycles Poster Contest sponsored by the Spokane County Regional Solid Waste System. Their artwork, created to help raise recycling awareness in our community, was based on the theme, “Erase the Waste: Reduce, Reuse, THEN Recycle!” The annual competition is part of America Recycles Day activities that take place across the country through Nov. 15.
All 30 grade level finalists have their work on display on the second floor of River Park Square.
Fifteen of these students will have their artwork featured in the 2021 “Spokane County Recycles” calendar.
In late December, a limited number of calendars will be available free of charge. Call 509.625.6580 or email the City of Spokane Solid Waste Disposal Department administration office to reserve your copy.
