Spokane River cleanup is a big job, but many hands make light work.

The Spokane Riverkeeper continues to team up with the City’s Code Enforcement Department to remove thousands of pounds of trash and debris from the shoreline of the river. Cleanups are in the Peaceful Valley, West Central, West Hills, Audubon-Downriver and Chief Garry Park neighborhoods.

During one cleanup last year shown in the video above, the team took five trips down the river – each time collecting nearly a thousand pounds of garbage for proper disposal.

In February 2024 alone, there were three coordinated cleanups with the Riverkeeper. Together, nearly 15,000 pounds of trash was removed that was directly adjacent to the river.
