Help influence the future of the City of Spokane’s built environment by taking the BUILDSpokane Community Survey. The BUILDSpokane code modernization project seeks to align the Spokane Development Code with current policy objectives and community feedback while supporting and streamlining desired development and redevelopment.
The Spokane Development Code is a set of regulations that govern development within the community, outlining rules for allowed uses, building standards, subdivision of land, and other elements of the built environment. It affects both what can be built within the city and how it’s built, including building setbacks, height limitations, lot coverage, and landscaping requirements.
Once development regulations are adopted, projects that meet those standards are approved to be built. Because of this, community members are encouraged to provide feedback during the writing of these rules, even before they may see development happening.
The BUILDSpokane Community Survey is open until Sunday, Nov. 15, 2026. Results from this survey will influence future amendments to the Development Code, impacting the City of Spokane’s future built environment.
The survey is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Marshallese.
