The center house of the Gaiser Conservatory will be closed for renovations beginning Tuesday, May 27, 2014 (the Tuesday after Memorial Day) and continuing through September 30, 2014, with reopening dependent on the construction schedule.
The renovation will include a new water feature and new heating fixtures in addition to updated sidewalks and plantscape.
The project will be mostly funded by a donation from the Jewett Foundation held by the Spokane Parks Foundation.
For public access the east and west wings of the Conservatory will remain open and accessed separately from doors at each end. Visitors can look forward to a new experience from the Conservatory upon completion.
Improvements will include a replacement of the current pond which has been leaking, and a more energy efficient heating system which will provide a better environment for plants.
