Spokane, Wash. – A newly renovated sport court at Corbin Park is schedule to open June 26, 2024 at noon. The space will offer two dedicated pickleball courts and one dedicated tennis court.

A brief ribbon cutting will be held at noon, followed by members of the Spokane Pickleball Club being among the first players.

Construction began in October, and paused during winter. Recent warmer weather allowed for the court surfacing to be placed and striped. The project also included new fencing and nets, and a new concrete wall on the north side of the courts.

“In our Parks Master Plan outreach, the community shared a desire for improved sport courts like pickleball as important amenities for health, wellness, and community-building” said Jason Conley, interim director of City of Spokane Parks & Recreation. “Many of our courts are aging, and that feedback was our signal to invest in making them more playable.”

Located a few blocks west of Division near Euclid, Corbin Park marks the City’s first dedicated pickleball courts. Those looking to play pickleball can visit 35 courts across 6 parks (most striped for pickleball and tennis): A.M. Cannon (2), Corbin (2), Comstock (12), Sky Prairie (2), Mission (16), and Peaceful Valley (1).

The renovated courts at Corbin replaced two aging tennis courts. The project cost $281,770 from the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation fund.

Parks & Recreation aims to renovate one park sport court per year; the next court to be renovated is at Underhill park, beginning in mid-August. Underhill will receive two updated basketball and two new pickleball courts.
