Spokane, Wash. – The Underhill Park sport court renovation project is substantially complete, and has re-opened to the community.

The site has two renovated basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, new sidewalks, ADA ramps at the corner of Hartson & Fiske, lighting, benches, bike racks, waste receptacles, grass sod, irrigation, and fencing improvements.

The pickleball courts are striped for play, however Parks will apply a colorful synthetic surfacing as spring brings warmer weather. The new landscaping will also be well established at the same time.

In the meantime, the courts are open and available for play.

“Neighborhood park investments – like playgrounds, restrooms, and sport courts – are our big focus right now,” said Garrett Jones, director of City of Spokane Parks & Recreation. “We heard from the community through our master planning process how important these amenities are to health and wellness. Renovations like this at Underhill, and last year at Wildhorse, Liberty, and Grant Parks, are often made possible with matching grants and contributions.”

The $628,000 project is funded by the community through City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, and a grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office. The project is also made possible through generous support by Dick’s Sporting Goods, No-Li Brewhouse, and the Spokane Hoopfest Association. Thank you.

An opening celebration will be planned for spring, when the permanent pickleball surfacing is installed.
