Last week a man was killed on north Division while attempting to cross on a bike. Several blocks away from the first collision, a female was attempting to cross Division and was also struck. She is still in critical condition at a local Hospital.
Friday, August 10, 2018 Officers from the Power shift unit did an emphasis on north Division St. They were looking for people speeding, aggressive and inattentive driving. The goal of the Officer’s is not to write tickets unless it is warranted. However, it is to make as many contacts with drivers as possible and educate them about the dangers of how they were driving.
We are hoping that this will reduce the number of not just car vs pedestrian collisions, but all collisions. Inattentive driving is one of the leading causes of collision and our goal is to get people to pay more attention to their driving and less attention to things like cell phones, Radio stations or eating and driving.
A reminder that the speed limit on Division through most of the city is 30 MPH. Most people believe it is 35 MPH and then they usually go 5 over that.
