Update:

On February 20th Spokane Police Officers responded to a call on the 1600 block of East Rockwell. Inside the residence, Officers discovered a deceased adult. Major crimes took over the scene and on February 21, 2020 they booked 36 year old Melissa Martin into the Spokane County Jail for 2nd degree Murder. There is no known threat to the public at this time stemming from this incident. The investigation is still ongoing and some of the details may change at a later date. 

Original Release:

On 02-20-20 at approximately 2:20 AM Spokane Police received a call from a third party describing suspicious circumstances at a residence in the North East part of town.  With limited information, Officers were able to determine the call was stemming from an incident that took place at a residence in the 1600 block of East Rockwell. 

SPD Patrol Officers arrived at the residence and determined they would need the assistance of SPD SWAT as well as the Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit. 

A search warrant was obtained for the address and executed by SWAT without incident.  The MCU has taken over the investigation and is working a crime scene.
