Suspect with multiple felony convictions arrested in DV shooting

Spokane Police have arrested Alfonzo Ortiz, DOB 6/2/1996,  for an incident yesterday morning at Cataldo and Madelia. Witnesses say a vehicle pulled up to a residence and an occupant threw something at a male who then ran at the vehicle firing one round. At the time of the shooting, Ortiz was armed with a handgun and fled the scene on foot. SPD officers took him into custody last night and he was booked on 1st degree assault DV and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The victim, who had a relationship with Ortiz was not injured despite a bullet narrowly missing her.

Officers had responded to an argument between the victim and the suspect the day before, Sunday May 23rd, but did not establish probable cause for a crime.

Ortiz has 6 felony convictions; 2nd degree kidnapping, 2nd degree robbery, harassment (threat to kill), unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and theft of a motor vehicle.
