Tip from citizen leads to hit and run arrest
On December 11, 2022, at 6:25 am, officers responded to the area of N. Elgin St and W. Wellesley Ave for a person reportedly laying on the ground yelling for help. Officers discovered a teenage male who had been hit by a vehicle and sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment which included broken bones. Officers processed the scene and located evidence left by the suspect vehicle.
The next day a citizen notified SPD they had information regarding the collision. That information led to the discovery of the suspect vehicle. Officers observed the damage on the vehicle matched evidence gathered from the scene. The registered owner, Lov’Anna Big Beaver (28), was determined to be the driver of the car at the time of the collision and was therefore arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail for felony hit and run.
SPD thanks the citizen who called in the valuable information that allowed SPD to solve a serious crime and encourages anyone who has information on criminal activity to always notify police.
